Program Description

Baltic Pastoral Institute is a three-year training program.

During the first year students are involved in full time studies led by both visiting and local instructors - experts in their respective areas. Students are also involved in ministry in their local church or town and are expected to complete specific ministry tasks.

During the second and third year students are active in full time ministry in their local church or town. They also continue their studies through independent work and monthly participation in seminars at BPI.

Characteristics of the program:

Transformational: We are seeking to foster a radical change in learners/disciples by remaking them from the inside out through the working of God's grace.

Experiential: Students are encouraged to purposefully and actively engage in experiences which will have benefits and consequences in their lives. They are expected to reflect critically on their experiences thus developing new skills, attitudes and ways of thinking.

Integrative: We want to see teaching, personal mentoring and ministry training all tied together and creatively involving the whole person in the learning process.

Balanced: While certain courses and learning activities will focus primarily on one or two of the key result areas of Content, Competence, Character and Culture, instructors are expected to teach in a way which takes into consideration all four aspects.

Learning from the best: We believe that those who effectively do the ministry are the most qualified to train the next generation. The most effective leaders, pastors, teachers, and thinkers that we know are invited to participate in the process.

Creative and innovative: Our approach to education is not tied to any one method or instructional strategy. Instead, we are encouraging instructors to be creative and innovative in their ways of teaching.
